Girl Who Code (GWC)

The Girls Who Code club will provide a means by which elementary and middle school girls in our community can access virtual events and activities related to coding/technology. Although access to resources is not as large of a problem for girls in Irvine, with the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is even more imperative to engage girls in technology and provide learning opportunities that will otherwise be inaccessible in a virtual format during this time. This club will provide opportunities both to serve and to learn. Members of the Girls Who Code club will be able to host virtual events for students in our community, improving their own understanding and appreciation of technology in the process. Service hours recognizable by the Presidential Volunteer Service Award will be provided for the volunteering efforts of club members, which will benefit Portola’s community in the process.
